In the spirit of Rosie the Riveter, an extraordinary women’s fundraising event was held on May 17 in our construction zone to fund our women’s homeless shelter. There were 110 women in attendance and our president, Rolf. The ladies flexed their power by raising over $125,000 to ensure homeless women in our community will have safe shelter for decades to come. All made possible by our board chair, Joyce McCullough, and Women’s Auxiliary president, Julie Willig.
We were delighted to be among the recipients of a gift of $100,000
from the Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara. This collective donor
group, which enables women to combine their charitable giving
into significant grants, made a meaningful gift to help with the
essential improvements to our homeless women’s shelter.
Campaign gifts such as this enable us to remain on schedule
despite recent construction delays caused by fire and debris
flows and the resulting closure of Highway 101.
